JHC vs OIS in the hockey and both teams go away with a 2 all draw! But it was a good game though! Lets try and win the hockey next year in the interschool at JHC.

This Friday majority of the year 8’s will be going to orientation at Waitaki Girls High School (WGHS) or Waitaki Boys High School (WBHS). Good luck to all of the year 8’s that are going to one of the high schools.

The softball season is back again and we are into it! This year at Oamaru Intermediate we have a total of seven teams. Six boys teams and one all girl team. Common guys get into it.

2009 Year 8 camps!

Year 8 camps! Yay!
In less than 3 weeks Stewart Island A campers will be on the road heading to Stewart Island, those poor, poor Stewart Island A campers will have to see Mr Martin in his wet suit (and maybe even Speedos!) They will be leaving on the 9th-13th of November. Then a week later on the 16th the Stewart Island B campers and the Wainui and Mt Somers campers will be leaving and there will only be 36 year 8’s left in the school for a week. With all the fundraising and donations of food that have already come in I’m pretty sure that all of the camps are going to be awesome! Be sure to check the blog for pictures of the camps.

Science Fair

Recently at school we have created fair tests for our school science fair.
Some of the ideas are; the good old mentos and coke, mould experiments.
The winners get to go to Timaru for the regional finals. At the finals we could win prizes of up to $100.

End of Term

We are coming to the end of term3. Man the year is going fast only 50 days of school left and then bring on the summer holidays. After the holidays the Yr 8’s will go off to the high schools and the Yr 7’s will rule the school.

OIS Cross Country

We recently held our Annual Cross-Country AKA Fun Run. At school you may of herd people saying, ‘How the heck do they put fun and run together??’ But… They were all wrong it was really fun!!
It was held at St Kevin’s College here in Oamaru. We had some great weather for it Sunny with a slight breeze just keeping temperatures good.
There were a number of races including:

12yr Girls
Boys
13yr Girls
Boys.

James Hargest Vs Oamaru Intermediate Interschool Reporters

Lucy and Taylor were the reporters for the James Hargest Vs Oamaru Intermediate Exchange. The Exchange has been going between the schools for 17 years every 2nd Year OIS goes to James Hargest. Both schools think it is good because it is a chance for students to interact, show hospitality, practise the maori culture and get out and play some awesome sport.

James Hargest Exchange Table Tennis tournament

Oamaru Intermediate was determined to win table tennis on Thursday 13th of August 2009. James Hargest just couldn’t keep up with the speedy hands of our Oamaru Intermediate students. James Hargest were great but not great enough because Oamaru Intermediate won! Congratulations Oamaru and thanks for the competition James Hargest.
