A group of children have been enjoying Petanque on a Friday afternoon, with Mr Martin, as part of our Community Sport programme.
Petanque is a game that originates from France. Each player has three balls if you are in a pair and two balls each if you are in a three. You have a cosh and you throw it 6 metres or so, depending on your age. You have to get as close to the cosh as you can. There is a way that you have to throw the boule (otherwise known as a ball). You have to have your palm facing the ground and have four fingers around the boule and have your thumb touching one of your fingers. 1st team to 13 wins.
Some of us are enjoying it so much that we are turning up to the Excelsior Petanque Club, club days on Sundays!
