The students at O.I.S were lucky enough to be able to go to the Oamaru pool for some free swimming lessons on how to survive in the water. There were four stations to do. On one you swim eight lengths, at station two you did activities like kicking under the water with a mask and snorkel. At station three you practised using a life jacket and at my favourite station you can get into an inflatable raft and when the instructors say so you fall backwards into the water and paddle around for a while before swimming back to the raft, pulling yourself up and helping the others on. All in all it was fun, you learned something about staying alive in the water, had fun and as a plus it was during school time so you got to skip school work as a plus. By Ivan
