Interactive whiteboards

An Interactive whiteboard is a big screen put on top of the normal white board and can be controlled using a keyboard and mouse hooked up, Wireless keyboard or a Special Interactive pen. Currently 5 Classes have these boards and now it’s time to put them in the rest of the classes. The children in the classes soon to get them are bound to be excited as are the teachers they are a great learning tool and aid in making life interesting using these cool boards.

Young Leaders Day

On the 21st of May  we had 10 students attend the young leader’s day in Dunedin. The young leader’s day is a day held at the Regent theatre annually. Students that look like promising students are sent to this day. This includes various inspirational speakers. With motivating messages for the students. The students who attended are bound to have a lot of messages to shear with the big wide world and look out for my interview with Tyler coming soon.

Life Education

For two weeks, we have the life education bus here at school. The year 7 program is ‘Warrant of Fitness’ and the year 8 program is ‘From the Shadows’. In Warrant of Fitness, the year sevens learn about eating healthy, keeping fit and learning about their bodies’ needs. They will sing songs, watch videos and play games in the life education bus. In From the Shadows the year eight’s will learn about drugs, and what they do to our body. They will also learn about the seven steps to adulthood.

Josef and I spent the start of the morning interviewing Jacki, who teaches us Life Education. Our interview with Jacki

Year 8 Camp Fundraising

Last week the fundraising for the year 8 school camp started. The students can choose from a range of fundraising like lollie selling, garage sale, raffle tickets, Lotto tickets and Bowling. The reason for year 8 fundraising is so that children can raise money for their own camp fees and pay them off fully if they raise enough money.
So if any students come to you asking if you want to buy Tickets, or lollies of any sort, ask if they are doing it for their camp and if you have some spare change lying around, buy some - it will be worth it and we will be very thankful.

GRAND DESIGNS

Our school is currently undergoing some improvements that will make it safer and up to current standards. These are; the art room and a couple of section of tarmac. The art room is being done up because it really needs it. And the tarmac that was being torn up was dangerous and a safety hazard.
